We are exploiting the unique biology of the parasitic protozoa T. brucei to study how mitochondria are built. More specifically we are interested in how macromolecules - both RNA and proteins - are imported into mitochondria. We hope that our research will provide insights into the function and evolution of mitochondrial biogenesis in general.
